Aakash Chopra was surprised when the Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson demoted himself to No.5 in the batting order

Former Indian batter Aakash Chopra was surprised when the Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson demoted himself to No.5 in the batting order in the IPL 2022 game against the Delhi Capitals and compared the move to shooting yourself in the foot.

Rajasthan lost the match by eight wickets at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Sent into bat after losing the toss, RR scored 160 for six in 20 overs. Samson batted at the No. 5 spot in Shimron Hetmyer’s absence, as Ravichandran Ashwin and Devdutt Padikkal batted ahead of him.

He was dismissed for six. RR’s loss against DC was their third defeat in the last four contests. They will compete against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

“Rajasthan Royals have a good team, but they have failed in the last few games. In their last game, their batting order surprised me. Sanju Samson cannot bat so low down in the order. Even if Shimron Hetmyer was not there, this move was like shooting yourself in the foot.”
