Hardik Pandya has credited MS Dhoni for making him a better cricketer, and he considers the most successful Indian captain as his mentor. Former India cricketer and expert Aakash Chopra said Hardik’s game has developed under Mahi.
He also stated that Pandya’s game and thinking ability as a leader reflects what he has learned from MSD.
“I think Hardik treats MS Dhoni as his mentor, and he is very close to the former India player. With the number at which he bats and his role, nobody has played it better than Mahi in the history of limited-overs cricket,” he said.
“The India all-rounder has learned the right lessons from MS. When you are in the company of a great player, you try to learn and shape your career. And that’s what we are seeing with Hardik,” said Chopra.
Pandya has already scored three half-centuries for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. Impressed by his effort, Irfan Pathan said that this is a completely new form of Hardik, and he has been very responsible for the franchise this season.
