Hardik Pandya told the veteran player to open the innings with Shubman Gill.

Hardik Pandya’s career has taken a big turn after he led Gujarat Titans to title victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The 28-year old, who captained a franchise for the first time, won the league when GT defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

However, he went unsold in the auction in 2014 before Mumbai Indians added him to the team next year. Since then, he hasn’t looked back and has won four titles with the five-time champions.

With his victory as a captain, Pandya became the first player to go unsold and then win the tournament as a captain.

In the 15th season, he scored more than 400 runs and took 8 wickets. He has been recalled for the T20I series against South Africa. Hardik will play a big role for the Men in Blue in the white-ball formats, considering his performance in the cash-rich league.
