Harbhajan Singh came down hard on umpires for their robotic performance in the Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals match in IPL 2022. He said the umpire was behaving like a robot whose sole purpose was to rely on the third umpire.
After the match, the former India spinner said he was surprised when the on-field umpire didn’t react to Trent Boult’s appeal against Mitchell Marsh. The DC all-rounder was hit in front of the wickets, but the umpire and the fielding side thought that ball had hit the bat first, resulting in a not-out decision.
Bhajji felt the umpire should have decided instead of waiting for the fielding captain to take DRS. “The umpire behaved like a robot whose sole purpose was to stand there and rely on the third umpire for the decisions. He should have made the call against Mitchell Marsh but there was no reaction from him,” he said.
