Virat Kohli, who scored a hard-fought fifty in the last game, failed to carry on with the momentum and scored 30 off 33 balls.

Moeen Ali removed both the opening batters in his first two overs with Faf du Plessis holing out at deep midwicket and Virat Kohli was clean bowled off a delivery which turned enough and clattered onto his stump. The former RCB skipper has been struggling in IPL 2022 and former West Indies bowler Ian Bishop has opined on the matter.

He is concerned about Kohli’s failures as he is finding different ways to get out to different bowlers. Bishop also observed that Virat is taking too many deliveries to score runs early on in his innings. “If you are scoring run a ball, you need to bat deep into the innings,” Ian Bishop told ESPNCricinfo.

“There was not much intent from Virat. He hit one [six] over extra-cover off the seamer, and that was when he went ahead with his scoring rate. Even if RCB won, this wasn’t the type of innings you expect from Kohli,” he added.

Bishop further clarified that his statements are mere observation and not criticism of the 33-year-old player.

“I am concerned at a number of types of bowlers are getting him out and he’s not getting ahead of the scoring rate,” he stated.
