Devon Conway was on fire for Chennai Super Kings and accumulated 87 off 49 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes against Delhi Capitals. The four-time champions scored 208/6 in 20 overs and dismissed DC on 117 runs, thus winning the contest by 91 runs.

The left-handed batter has hit three consecutive fifties for the defending champions. However, he was earlier dropped from the playing XI after jone game. The management included him as an opener after Robin Uthappa’s low scores in some games.

The decision has paid off as Conway has been CSK’s best batter, and his contribution has played a big role in the team’s success off late. Former India player Aakash Chopra feels Devon’s ouster from the early games could eliminate CSK from the playoff race.

The team needs to win the remaining matches and hope the results of other teams go their way.

“Devon Conway has been excellent for the franchise, and I wonder why he was dropped after jone game. This mistake could cause CSK the playoff berth in IPL 2022. Super Kings do not change players so easily, but in Conway’s case, it was different. I feel they made a big mistake,” he said.
