Former Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni did superb work behind the stumps that caught Bhanuka Rajapaksa short of his crease in the game against Punjab Kings on Sunday (April) 3. Rajapaksa hit a six in his 5-ball 9; however, the Sri Lankan lost his wicket trying to take a single in Chris Jordan’s first over in IPL 2022.

It was a big wicket for the defending champions as Rajapaksa had played two attacking knocks in the last two games and looked like the danger man for the rival side. The credit for the wicket goes to Dhoni, who ran towards the stumps in a quick time and hit the stumps with a low arm throw before Rajapaksa made it to the crease.

It was not the best throw from the fielder, and MSD collected the ball on one bounce, which was not easy. Nevertheless, the 40-year old threw the ball by diving and got rid of the batter.

The run-out proved that MS Dhoni is still one of the fittest players and can handle pressure situations. The wicket also reminded the 2016 T20 World Cup game between India and Bangladesh when the then India skipper had run-out Mustafizur Rahman.

Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja won his first toss as the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and opted to field first against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Here is how fans reacted.

“Fastest than a cheetah,” one of the fans wrote.

“We are blessed that still watching him.”

“40 years missile.”

“MS Dhoni did it, champion keeper, diving forward.”
