Faf also shed light on Virat Kohli's never-ending struggles in the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings registered their maiden win in IPL 2022. The defending champions defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 23 runs at the DY Patil Stadium. Batting first, the Ravindra Jadeja-led team scored 216/4 in 20 overs.

Shivam Dube scored an unbeaten 95 off 46 balls, laced with 8 sixes and 5 fours. Along with him, Robin Uthappa accumulated 88 off 50 balls with the help of 9 sixes and 4 fours.

Chasing 217, the Bangalore-based franchise managed 193/9 in 20 overs. When Faf du Plessis was asked about the overs where his team lost the match, he said: “Our bowlers were brilliant in the first 7 overs, but CSK hit us hard between 8-14 overs, and this was when we lost the momentum. We tried our best to stop Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube, but they were simply magnificent,” he said.

Faf also lauded his batters for taking the game close. “Credit to our batters for taking us close as we could have lost the contest by a considerable margin, but it came down to 23 in the end,” he added.
