Umran Malik has become the talk of the town after his impressive performance in IPL 2022. The 22-year-old Indian speedster bowls over 145kph, which has troubled many batters in the competition.
He is representing Sunrisers Hyderabad and was named the Man of the Match in the last game against Punjab Kings, in which he took 4 wickets, including three in the 20th over. Umran’s popularity has reached Pakistan.
Former player Rashid Latif has stated that Umran will soon represent India. Latif reckons that Malik can play for a long time, and his emergence is a sign that India can produce fast bowlers.
“He is bowling really quick. It is not easy to find pacers who can bowl at 150 kph regularly, but he has that ability to bowl at 155 and even quicker. I have a feeling that he will soon play for India. This is a good sign for India that such bowlers are coming through the ranks,” Latif said on the YouTube show Caught Behind.
Rashid expects Umran to play T20 World Cup for India in Australia later this year. The former Pakistan skipper said that the Indian quick is ahead of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Shaheen Afridi.
“Starc, Cummins. Haris Rauf have shown a dip in pace, and even Shaheen can’t bowl beyond 145 kph, but Umran Malik is different,” he added.
