Delhi Capitals trolled Punjab Kings after defeating them by 17 runs. They took Shikhar Dhawan’s name, who is fondly known as Gabbar, to make fun of the rivals.
“End main Gabbar ke khilaaf, jeet toh Thakur ki hi hoti hai,” they wrote. While Dhawan scored just 19 off 16 balls, Shardul Thakur took 4 wickets, which played a key role in DC’s win.
Delhi’s statement was inspired by the famous Bollywood movie Sholay where Thakur takes revenge on Gabbar.
Coming back to the match, the Rishabh Pant-led team somehow managed to score 159/7 in 20 overs. The total was not safe, considering the firepower in the batting line-up of Punjab but the memorable bowling performance restricted the Mayank Agarwal-led team to a score of 142/9.
Capitals have climbed to the fourth position in the points table with one more game left in their season.
