The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in game 22 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday. Chennai have been in horrendous form in IPL 2022, losing all four of their matches so far. In their last game, they were trampled by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets. They need to lift their game soon to try and make an impact in this edition. Bangalore have recovered fabulously well after failing to defend a 200-plus total against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their first match. They have since won three games in a row. In their previous match, they thumped the hapless Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven wickets. RCB will begin as favorites in Tuesday’s IPL 2022 match. Ahead of the match, here are five player battles to watch out for.

1. Robin Uthappa vs Mohammed Siraj: CSK batter Robin Uthappa has not been the same in the last two matches. After blazing fifty against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), he has failed against Punjab and Hyderabad. With Ruturaj Gaikwad looking completely out of touch at the other end, CSK will expect Uthappa to take on the role of the aggressor. He will be up against Mohammed Siraj at the start of the innings. The RCB pacer has been out of rhythm in IPL 2022 so far. He will thus be keen to make an impact against Chennai. At the same time, Uthappa can look to take him on and give his team the momentum early in the innings.

2. Faf du Plessis vs Maheesh Theekshana: RCB skipper Faf du Plessis got his IPL 2022 campaign off to a rollicking start, slamming a brilliant 88 against Punjab. It was a typical Faf knock – starting slowly, getting his eye in, and then going absolutely berserk. However, Du Plessis has not been the same player since, and has struggled for runs in the last three games. He will face a challenge against CSK spinner Maheesh Theekshana. The Sri Lankan mystery bowler made an impressive IPL debut in the last match, keeping things tight at the start. He will look to get the wicket of the RCB skipper early. Will Faf be able to read his variations?

3. Moeen Ali vs Akash Deep: Moeen Ali and Akash Deep will be an interesting battle because both will play in an aggressive fashion. No matter what the situation of the game, Moeen will look to take on the bowling because that is the task he has been given at No. 3. In the previous match as well, he was the top-scorer for Chennai with a fine 48. As for Akash Deep, he has been expensive at times, but he has the knack of picking up key wickets. He is particularly good with the short ball because of the pace and accuracy he generates. Moeen has a weakness against the rising delivery and Akash Deep for sure will test him out.

4. Dinesh Karthik vs Chris Jordan: DK has been absolutely sensational for RCB at the death. If he gets a chance, he will once again look to come in and score rapidly. He will be high on confidence following his exploits in IPL 2022. He has all the strokes in the book to score cheeky boundaries. CSK’s Chris Jordan is one of the team’s designated death bowlers. He will look to get the yorkers right. If he fails, he could be punished heavily.

5. Shivam Dube vs Wanindu Hasaranga: Shivam Dube has been one of the few bright spots for CSK in the batting. He has been impressive with his clean hitting. Chennai will want him to carry on his good form. It won’t be easy for Dube against the cunning leg-spin of Wanindu Hasaranga. The latter has been excellent for RCB and his variations have foxed batters. He will have the upper hand over Dube.
