Hardik Pandya in action
He is heading to Mumbai Indians.

Hardik Pandya’s captaincy may have been lauded by many, but his bowling fitness has again given rise to questions about his all-round skills. Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel said Hardik can’t be selected for the T20 World Cup for bowling 140 kmph in two matches.

Parthiv said the star all-rounder needs to prove his fitness by playing domestic cricket before being considered for the mega event in Australia.

“You need a player who is fully fit. You can’t pick a player for bowling at 140 kmph in two matches. If you take him to the T20 World Cup, and he gets injured, then what happens? It will be the team’s loss. You need to play at least a few 4-day matches, and then only you can judge the fitness,” Parthiv told Cricbuzz.

Hardik, the Gujarat Titans captain, clocked 140 kmph in the first few games, but after he missed a game due to a niggle, he stopped bowling in IPL 2022.
