According to RR spinner R Ashwin, the entire incident allowed them to settle down.

The IPL 2022 match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders was a thriller, with the former eventually winning it by 7 runs. The contest had a hundred from Jos Buttler, a hat-trick from Yuzvendra Chahal, 200+ runs from both franchises, and a captain’s knock from Shreyas Iyer (85 off 31 balls), which kept the KKR in the hunt.

Rajasthan posted a mammoth score of 217/5 in 20 overs. Buttler scored 103, his second century of the season. Chasing 218, KKR were dismissed for 210, with Chahal taking five wickets.

Royals’ off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has now shared a hilarious incident from the game.

“Everybody was having fun while we were batting except for a group of the squad. Saini, Chahal, Prasidh Krishna, & Boult because they had to bat. Saini did not play (in the game against KKR). Also, McCoy seems to be a silent type,” said Ashwin.

“Saini casually started like, “Bhaiya… what do you think is the safe score on this track. I said 230 should be enough. Saini went silent, and then I asked him, you asked me a question, and now, you are quiet. He said, “Bhaiya, I had a deep contemplation, and I think 300 should be enough against KKR.”

“We all started laughing. After the game, Saini came to me and said, this is why I was saying that 300 would have been the safest total. I conversed with the Team management, Rajamani, and all said that we were short of 10-15 runs. And Saini was like, Bhaiya, I already told you, right. We were 80 runs short,” Ashwin said.
