Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s team has entered record books after winning the WPL trophy in the second season. Their men’s team is still looking for the maiden IPL trophy, but the women’s have marched forward. Virat Kohli, the biggest star of RCB, was over the moon following Smiriti Mandhana’s team’s win over Delhi Capitals in the final.
He was seen celebrating with them on the video call.
The legendary batter touched down in India on Sunday and even departed to Bangalore to join his teammates ahead of IPL 2024.
Meanwhile, it was a one-sided final in Delhi. The Delhi Capitals couldn’t do anything after the magnificent start by their openers, Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma. The Women in Blue were dismissed for 113 runs without playing the full quota of 20 overs.
Shreyanka Patil bowled a match-winning spell with 4 wickets from just 3.3 overs while conceding 12 runs. Sophie Molineux also bowled brilliantly, taking 3 scalps, while Asha Sobhana chipped in with two wickets.
Chasing 114, there were no hiccups for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the batters batted patiently to win the mega final.
Smriti Mandhana (31 off 39 balls), Sophie Devine (32 off 37 balls), Ellyse Perry ( 35 not out), and Richa Ghosh ( 17 not out) made vital contributions with the bat.
