Wasim Jaffer, the veteran batsman, became the first batsman in history to score 1000 runs twice in Ranji Trophy. He had scored 1260 runs from 16 innings at an average of 84 for Mumbai in 2008-09. This season, playing for Vidarbha, he needed 31 runs before the semifinal.

After Umesh Yadav restricted Kerala for 106 in their first innings on the first day, Jaffer went on to score 34 runs, reaching another milestone in his illustrious career.

He represented India in 31 Tests, accumulating 1944 Test runs including five hundreds. Despite his great track record in domestic cricket, he failed to perform in international arena and was axed from the national team on account of ordinary performances in whites.

Already the highest-scorer in Ranji Trophy history, he became the first Asian batsman to score two doubles tons after turning 40.
