In a very shocking list released on Twitter, a journalist from Pakistan claimed that Pakistan bowling legend, Wasim Akram has rated the top five batsmen in the world that he played with or against. The list is shocking because it rates Sachin Tendulkar below the likes of Pakistan’s Inzamam-ul-Haq and New Zealand’s Martin Crowe.

1. Vivian Richards

2. Martin Crowe

3. Brian Lara

4. Inzamam-ul-Haq

5. Sachin Tendulkar

Saj Sadiq, a cricket journalist from Pakistan tweeted.

Wasim ranked West Indian, Sir Vivian Richards at number one. A classy batsman who was fearsome at the same time, Richards played a crucial role in West Indies’ World Cup-winning campaigns in 1975 and 1979. He finished his career with over 8000 Test runs and 6000 ODI runs, averaging 50.24 and 47 respectively.

The second player in the list was New Zealand’s, Martin Crowe. Crowe was one of the most technically sound batters and was solid in defence. His career was marred with injuries. He finished his career with over 10,000 international runs.

One of the greatest batsmen of all time, both visually and statistically, West Indies’ Brian Lara was. He is one of the few players to score over 10,000 runs in both Tests and ODIs.

With more than 30,000 international runs, India’s Sachin Tendulkar could only get the fifth position behind Pakistan’s Inzamam-ul-Haq, who scored around 20,000 international runs.

  1. Only Sachin and Lara are correct. There are many greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Ricky Ponting, J. Kallis, Rahul Dravid, A. Border, A Cook, J Root, K Sangakara, S Smith, S Chanderpaul, G Sobers and so on. Inzamam was also good but not that great.
