MS Dhoni is one of the most popular figures in the world of cricket. His popularity in the Indian dressing room is akin to a cult figure. And why it wouldn’t be like that? He is the only captain in cricket history to lead his country to triumphs in all the ICC events- World Cup, T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy. And not to forget that he has also won IPL and Champions League T20.
Vijay Shankar got a call-up in the Indian team after Hardik Pandya was called back home from India’s tour of Australia. Shankar impressed one and all with his batting in ODI and T20I series against New Zealand. And he is the latest addition to MS Dhoni’s admiration club.
“I was happy to be around with the seniors. Just watching them prepare for matches and learning. Moreover, I learnt a lot by watching Dhoni during run chases. I learnt a lot about how to pace an innings, especially during chases. I learnt about his mindset,” Shankar told PTI.
“It was a great experience to share the dressing room with names like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma. It is important to watch and learn from the seniors in the team,” Shankar added.
