Was Yuzvendra Chahal getting intoxicated with alcohol after becoming frustrated with his life?
Over the past few years, things have been quite up and down for Yuzvendra Chahal both on and off the field. Last year, after months of disputes between Chahal and Dhanashree Verma, they got divorced. Apart from this, Chahal has been out of Team India since 2023.
He could have become the first Indian bowler to take 100 T20 International wickets, but he got stuck at 96, while Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya surpassed that mark.
Perhaps these were some of the reasons why Chahal seemed quite troubled and started drinking alcohol. He himself shared this information. Before the start of the IPL, Chahal said in an interview, “This year my mind told me that I need to take care of my body first. I want to give you good news—I have quit drinking alcohol. It has been more than six months now. I am 35 years old and I want to be more active. I want young players to learn something by watching me when I go to the IPL.”
This means that Chahal himself admitted that he had started drinking, although he also made it clear that he has not touched alcohol for over six months. This sends a clear message that he is focusing on his fitness, and this season he might deliver something special for Punjab Kings.
