PSL’s full form? Pakistan Super League? No — its full form is Petrol Shortage League.
The Pakistan Super League 2026 is set to begin on March 26, but before that, Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has made some shocking changes. No spectators will be able to go to the stadium to watch PSL matches. There will be no PSL opening ceremony, and only Karachi and Lahore will host the matches.
The reason? There is no petrol left in vehicles. Mohsin Naqvi said that due to the fuel crisis, schools have been closed, work-from-home has been implemented, and Eid holidays have also been extended. There is no guarantee how long the conflict will last. After lengthy discussions with security agencies, it was decided that instead of canceling the league, it would be held without spectators.
After this comment, #PetrolShortageLeague started trending on social media. Fans used this hashtag to heavily mock the PCB. And there’s no guarantee with PCB either—who knows, they might even cancel the tournament before it begins. But it feels bad for the fans who were hoping to watch matches live from the stadium. Not only have their dreams been shattered, but now the petrol problem has made things worse.
