There is still suspense over whether Team India’s veteran batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play the 2027 World Cup. Virat is currently 37 years old, while Rohit has turned 38.
In such a situation, former India captain MS Dhoni has come out in strong support of both players. He said, Why shouldn’t they play it? The age is not a criteria, it’s the performance and fitness. If they’re performing and are dedicated to do well, then why not? You can’t get a 20 year old who is experienced unless he’s Sachin Tendulkar.”.
He Added, “If somebody is in their 30s, it’s not for us to decide whether they can play the next World Cup. It’s for them to decide. If they keep performing and have the urge to do well for the country, then why not?”
