Recently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) demanded from the ICC that, due to security reasons, they would not tour India for the 2026 T20 World Cup. BCB wants their team to play this tournament at a neutral venue. Now the ICC has rejected this request from BCB. The ICC has made it clear that either Bangladesh must come to India and play the tournament, or they will lose their points.

Losing points simply means that if the Bangladesh team refuses to play in India, they will not receive any points in the league phase and will be forced out of the tournament. This is because, coincidentally, all of Bangladesh’s matches are scheduled in India, and without points you cannot qualify for the Super 8.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, in a virtual meeting held on Tuesday, January 6, the ICC rejected BCB’s request. If Bangladesh refuses to play, the opposing team will be awarded a win in the form of a walkover.
