Recently, during the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, a heated moment was seen between the India national cricket team and the New Zealand national cricket team players.
Team India’s star fast bowler Arshdeep Singh and New Zealand’s all-rounder Daryl Mitchell had a brief on-field argument. During his bowling follow-through, Arshdeep threw the ball toward Mitchell, and it hit in his direction, which made the Kiwi player angry. However, later Arshdeep showed sportsmanship and apologized to Mitchell.
Reacting to this incident, Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir shared his opinion. In an interview given to the Indian news channel News 24, Gambhir said that even if Arshdeep had not apologized, he would not have had any problem with it.
Gambhir explained that when a player is representing his country, showing aggression on the field is not wrong. He also said that no bowler likes getting hit for two consecutive sixes, and a reaction from the bowler is natural. According to him, he likes to see that kind of competitive spirit.
However, he also mentioned that Arshdeep’s apology was perfectly fine and showed good sportsmanship, but even if he had not said sorry, it would not have been an issue for him.
