After being whitewashed in the two-match Test series against South Africa, many people started demanding the removal of Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir. Responding to this matter, Gambhir said that the decision about his future will be taken by the BCCI. He also said earlier that “Indian cricket is important, I am not.”
Now, BCCI has taken a final decision regarding this issue.
According to reports from The Indian Express, the BCCI will not remove Gautam Gambhir until the 2027 World Cup. A BCCI official stated that the Indian team is currently going through a transition phase, and they will not make any decision in haste. Gambhir’s contract is valid until the 2027 World Cup.
However, due to the series defeat, the BCCI and chief selector Ajit Agarkar will have a meeting with the entire team management to review the performance.
