Bangladesh has officially boycotted the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and has withdrawn from this mega tournament. In place of Bangladesh, the Scotland team was set to stake its claim. However, a new U-turn has now emerged in this matter, under which the ICC may facilitate Bangladesh’s return—and Pakistan has become the reason behind this development.

In fact, Pakistan has not yet given its final confirmation to participate in the ICC T20 World Cup. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been delaying the decision. On Monday, Naqvi met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the issue.

After the meeting, Naqvi tweeted that a final decision on Pakistan’s participation would be taken either on Friday or next Monday. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the ICC could adopt a strict stance in this situation. If Pakistan withdraws from the tournament, Bangladesh could be brought back as a replacement.

In that scenario, all of Bangladesh’s matches would be shifted to Sri Lanka.
