In September 2023, Tanzim was widely criticized for a number of Facebook posts that were deemed to be misogynistic by various media outlets. The people of the country were divided into two sides with his opinion. A large number of people claim that according to the country’s constitution, everyone has the right to freedom of expression. However, he apologized for his comment to the Bangladesh Cricket Board and said that he did not intend to hurt anyone and apologized to those who were hurt. He denied the claim that he is a
misogynist saying, ‘My mother is a woman, so I never can be a misogynist’. Fellow cricketer Mehidy Hasan Miraz said on social media that though he posted the comments in a ‘wrongful’ manner which he (Tanzim) realized, he never intended to show any misogyny in his comment.
