A lot of eyebrows have been raised after Indian skipper Virat Kohli stated that there has been a lack of clarity regarding Rohit Sharma’s absence from India’s touring team to Australia. Rohit was supposed to travel with the team to Sydney after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in UAE.

Instead, Rohit decided to return to India to maintain his fitness levels. He is currently at the NCA, undergoing rehab. Rohit has been in the news ever since India’s team was announced for the tour Down Under. He was initially left out from all three squads, due to an injury he picked up during the IPL.

However, his involvement in the IPL created further confusion regarding his omission from the team. Virat’s comments ahead of the first ODI made it clear that there is a communication gap among the team members, precisely between him and his deputy, Rohit. In the same light, former pacer Ashish Nehra has expressed his disappointment regarding the same issue.

“Like everyone, I am also surprised and disappointed. I don’t understand this. You are talking about a player like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is saying he doesn’t know anything. For me, this is very sad. This shouldn’t happen these days. Technology is available for you and the concerned people should’ve communicated properly in this case,” Nehra told Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, Rohit has already been ruled out of two of the four-match Test series against Australia. He will be assessed at the NCA on December 11 and only after then, his chances of traveling to Australia will be ascertained. Moreover, the BCCI is also negotiating with Cricket Australia to reduce the quarantine duration for him.
