The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently confirmed venues and schedule for the five-match T20I series against South Africa. The home series will get underway just 11 days after IPL 2022.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that a well thought out workload management plan for players is being prepared so that the key members of the Indian team, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, can get a break ahead of a gruelling schedule.
“There are five T20 internationals between June 9 to 19 in five cities. All the players won’t be a part of the matches. Some might be given rest from all the games and some might play a few contests,” said a BCCI source as quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.
“If the guys are not given breaks, it will impacvt their performances. The duration of break will be decided by the selectors after talking to head coach (Rahul Dravid),” the source added. The venues for the five T20Is will be Delhi, Cuttack, Vizag, Rajkot, and Bengaluru, respectively.
