From the lanes of Aligarh to the Indian Premier League, Rinku Singh has come a long way in his career. His family was not financially sound, and the cricketer had to bear his father’s beating.
However, he didn’t give up, and his best moment came in the IPL 2023 match between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
He slammed five sixes in five balls of Yash Dayal‘s over to seal the contest in his team’s favour.
His brother Sonu Singh spoke to Aaj Tak about their struggles. “We lived in a room of a gas godown for 35 years in Aligarh. There are five brothers and one sister in the family,” he said.
According to Sonu, when Rinku was bought for INR 10 lakh in 2017, he repaid the loans his father had taken.
He was added to the KKR squad for INR 80 lakh in 2018, and the family constructed a new house. Rinku is a family person. Singh bought a car for his father.
His mother and father started crying when he hit the fifth six against Yash Dayal. Rinku was offered a sweeper’s job but turned it down to focus on cricket.
