Dhruv Jurel was named the Player of the Match for playing two match-winning innings against England in the fourth Test in Ranchi. He scored 90 and 39 as India won the match by 5 wickets. The host nation has won the series by 3-1 with one more Test left.
Dhruv, who made his debut in the previous Test in Rajkot, contributed with a fine 46 in the first innings of the third contest as the Rohit Sharma-led team defeated the visiting unit by 434 runs.
Ravichandran Ashwin, who took 5 wickets in the second innings in Ranchi, took to social media to praise Kuldeep and Dhruv.
“Wow just 🤩 wow,” Ravichandran Ashwin wrote on X.
India were 177/7 when Kuldeep and Jurel came together. They added 77 runs together and the sub-continent team managed to put up 307 on the board in reply to England’s 353 runs.
India would have lost the match without their stand. Rohit Sharma’s contingent then dismissed England for 145 runs, with Kuldeep taking 4 key wickets.
India were again in trouble while chasing 192 to win the game and the series. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Rajat Patidar, Ravindra Jadeja and. Sarfaraz Khan dismissed on a score of 120.
Dhruv combined with Shubman Gill and the two added an unbeaten 72 runs to win the contest for their team. While Gill accumulated 52 not out, the young player amassed 39 not out.
