Former player and the interim head coach of Pakistan, Mohammad Hafeez, feels his team can still beat Australia in Australia. His commented after Pakistan’s crushing defeat by 360 in the first Test in Perth.
Michael Vaughan, who has been a part of several banters with Hafeez on social media, reacted to the statement, saying no chance.
The visitors looked good in patches but their overall approach was timid. Several batters got starts but couldn’t convert them into big scores in the first innings.
“We have to execute our plans in the middle. There were moments where we could have put Australia under pressure but allowed the advantage to slip away.
“We had a detailed discussion before the game about the way we wanted to play against Australia but unfortunately we made tactical errors which resulted in our defeat. However, I still believe in our players and we can still beat Australia in the remaining two games,” Mohammad Hafeez said.
Australia accumulated 487 and 233/5d while Pakistan manged 271 and 89 in their innings.
