The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will not tolerate player tantrums regarding Ranji Trophy matches. It has been communicated to contracted players that they must play domestic games if the management wants.

Jay Shah, the secretary of the Indian board, is miffed with Ishan Kishan, who is unwilling to turn up for Jharkhand despite Rahul Dravid’s important remarks.

Team India’s head coach clearly mentioned that Ishan must make himself available and play in domestic matches before returning to the national team.

Taking Dravid’s instructions forward, Jay Shah clarified the importance of domestic cricket.

Nikhil Naz, who is a prominent journalist with Aaj Tak, wrote:

“All contracted players have been told on phone and I’ll be writing to them too. If chairman of selectors, coach & captain want you to play red-ball cricket then you gotta play. ‘Nakhare Nahi Chalenge’ (no tantrums.”

“As far as Ishan Kishan is concerned, he’s still young. This missive is directed at all contracted players,” he continued.

Ishan is likely to play the season’s last game for his state. He was recently seen with the Pandya brothers in Baroda. Kishan will represent Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Meanwhile, Shah has lauded Rohit Sharma and confirmed that Hardik will be Sharma’s deputy in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

“Hardik is currently vice-captain, and why are you thinking about the future? Talk about the present; as I told you today, Rohit Sharma is India’s all-format captain.

“In the third T20I vs Afghanistan, India were 22/4 & it was Rohit Sharma’s century that took us to 212/4. We can’t question him, right? He has the ability as I said, we won ten games in the ODI WC. We didn’t win the final, but it’s part & parcel; whoever plays better wins,” Jay Shah to PTI.
