Former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has backed struggling Team India batter Suryakumar Yadav to regain form ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Suryakumar is under the scanner for registering three golden ducks in the three-match ODI series against Australia.
While some former players have urged the selectors to drop SKY from the team, Yuvraj believes that the right-handed batter will play an important role for the Men in Blue in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
“Every sports person goes thru ups & downs in their career!” Yuvraj tweeted. “We’ve all experienced it at some point. I believe @surya_14kumar is a key player for India & will play an imp role in the #WorldCup if given the opportunities. Let’s back our players coz our Surya will rise again.”
Yadav has been a gun player in T20Is and currently holds the No.1 rank. On the other hand, he has scored 49 runs in the seven ODI matches he played this year.
Overall, he has accumulated 433 runs in 23 ODI games at an average of 24.05, including two half-centuries.
