Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has opened up on hitting 7 sixes in an over in the second quarter-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 against Uttar Pradesh in Ahmedabad.
He remembered Yuvraj Singh, who had slammed six sixes in an over of Stuart Broad in the 2007 T20 World Cup match against England.
Meanwhile, Gaikwad went after left-arm spinner Shiva Singh in the 19th over of the innings.
“Yuvraj Singh crossed my mind after I hit the 5th six. I had seen him slamming six sixes when I was young. I wanted to be alongside him. That’s why I went for the sixth six. I was very happy when it came through,” he said.
“I never thought I would hit so many sixes in one over. It is a big thing to get your name alongside Yuvraj’s and match that hype which is there around six or seven sixes.”
