Former India cricketer, Dilip Vengsarkar has offered an important piece of advice to Virat Kohli and his men which might help them to perform well in the challenging England conditions.

The Indian team is all set to take on New Zealand in the upcoming final of inaugural World Test Championship, starting on June 18 at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

Notably, the WTC final will be followed by a five-match Test series between India and England which is scheduled to take place from August 4.

Vengsarkar, who averaged nearly 43 in the Test matches in England during his playing days, has warned the Indian batsmen to refrain from playing “big drives” outside off-stump. The 65-year-old also urged them to play with soft hands while facing the fast bowlers in England.

“Once you get acclimatized, the important factor is to counter the extra movement, especially off the wicket. Don’t go for big drives to start with because the ball moves quite a bit and if you go for a big drive you are likely to end up in slips or anywhere,” Vengsarkar told Khaleej Times.

“In England sometimes you get overcast conditions and the ball starts moving, then suddenly you get sunshine and it becomes a good batting wicket. You get different seasons in one day. So, as a batsman, you are never settled,” he added.
