The World Test Championship finale will be played between India and New Zealand from June 18 at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground, Southampton. Meanwhile, the CEO of the ICC, Geoff Allardice, has announced the prize money to be distributed among the winner and the runners-up.
While the winner of the World Test Championship will receive US $1.6 million, runners-up will walk away with $800,000. The prize money will be split between the teams in case of a draw
New Zealand were the first team to qualify for the finale of the tournament. India, on the other hand, had to dig deep to book its place in the championship final. Virat Kohli-led team defeated England after losing the first Test to confirm their participation in the most important match of the WTC.
New Zealand recently won the Test series against England. However, India have not played any cricket in recent times. Cricket experts are backing New Zealand considering their performance against the host nation in the just-concluded Test series.
