Speaking ahead of the tour of South Africa, Saha admitted that Pant is the front-runner for a place in the Playing XI.

Wriddhiman Saha was in superb touch in the two-match Test series against New Zealand. Despite suffering an injury, he played a match-saving innings in the first Test in Kanpur. However, he will be replaced by regular wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, who was rested from the home series against the Kiwis.

Speaking ahead of the tour of South Africa, Saha admitted that Pant is the front-runner for a place in the Playing XI.

“Rishabh Pant was the First choice Keeper in England and he has done really well, so he is likely to start in South Africa,” he said on News9.

The right-handed batter also spoke about his role in the team. “A team man is always ready to help his team in any situation. One who always puts the team ahead of his personal ambition or plan,& takes responsibility in the toughest of situations. I can whether I am perfect team man but I try to put need of team before anything else,” he added.
