Former New Zealand player Sophie Devine played a memorable knock for Gujarat Giants against the Delhi Capitals in Match 4 of the Women’s Premier League 2026. She had a chance to become the first batter to score a hundred in the history of the tournament, but was dismissed by 95 runs off just 42 deliveries. She hit 7 fours, 8 sixes and her runs came at a strike rate of 226.19, leading the GG to 209 in the allotted 20 overs.
It was another disappointing performance for the Capitals, who conceded a lot of runs against the Mumbai Indians in their previous game.
Apart from Devine, the Gujarat captain, Ashleigh Gardner, recorded another vital knock in the ongoing league. After her match-winning innings in her team’s first contest against the UP Warriorz, she posted 49 runs off 26 deliveries, including 4 boundaries and 3 sixes.
The remaining batters didn’t do much with the bat, but the contributions of Sophie and Gardner were enough for the Giants.
Jemimah Rodrigues, the new captain of the Delhi Capitals, used seven bowlers in the game. Nandani Sharma was the most successful bowler for the three-time finalists, taking five wickets. She completed her hat-trick, dismissing Kanika Ahuja, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Renuka Singh on the last three deliveries of the 20th over of the first innings.
Chinelle Henry and Shree Charani dismissed two batters each, but they were expensive after Delhi won the toss and invited Gujarat to bat first.
