Beth Mooney ruled out of WPL 2023
Mooney picked up an injury in her team's opening game against Mumbai Indians.

Gujarat Giants skipper Beth Mooney has returned to training after getting injured in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) opener. She suffered a leg injury against Mumbai Indians at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai on March 4.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team scored 207/5 in 20 overs. GG were bowled out for 64 runs and lost the game by 143 runs. Mooney retired hurt and missed the next game against UP Warriorz.

In the absence of the Aussie player, India all-rounder Sneh Rana captained the side. The Giants lost the game by 3 runs to register a second consecutive defeat. Ahead of the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mooney joined the team for training.

Mooney led Australia to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title in South Africa.

Earlier, Gujarat Giants head coach and Mooney’s former Australia teammate Rachael Haynes said they might have to look for a replacement for the injured skipper.
