Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against India after failing to recover from Covid-19. Hasaranga had tested Covid-19 positive a week ago during the Australia series, and he has returned positive in the recent test too.

Apart from him, Kusal Mendis and Binura Fernando also tested positive for the virus. Hasaranga became the costliest Sri Lankan player in the history of the Indian Premier League when he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10.75 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

The 24-year-old all-rounder has been impressive in the last one year. He was one of the best bowlers in the ICC T20 World Cup. As a result, he is in the third spot in the ICC Rankings for Bowlers in T20Is.

The visitors will be playing three T20Is against the Rohit Sharma-led team followed by two Test matches. The first match will be played at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium on February 24. The next two T20I matches will be held in Dharmshala on February 26 and 27 before the red-ball series games in Mohali and Bengaluru.
