Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi played his first Big Bash League match on December 15, featuring for the Brisbane Heat. However, the outing didn’t go to plan, as the left-arm pacer was unable to finish his full four-over quota in Heat’s game against the Melbourne Renegades at Simonds Stadium in Geelong.
Shaheen Afridi had a difficult start, with his opening two overs proving costly. After delivering two beamers that were deemed dangerous, the umpires stopped him from completing his spell for the remainder of the match.

After bowling only four deliveries in that over, Afridi was taken off and didn’t return. His final numbers read 2.4 overs for 43 runs. Tim Seifert starred with a 102, also the tournament’s first hundred this season.
Mohammad Rizwan fails to make an impact on BBL debut
Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan also endured a tough outing at Simonds Stadium while representing the Melbourne Renegades against Shaheen Afridi’s Brisbane Heat. Promoted to bat at number three in the fourth over, the Pakistan wicketkeeper found scoring difficult and failed to settle at the crease. He managed just four runs from 10 balls before being dismissed by Patrick Dooley in the seventh over of the innings.
Tim Seifert stole the show for the Renegades with a blistering knock at the top of the order. He raced to 102 from 56 balls, hitting nine fours and six sixes. Oliver Peake added handy runs as well, helping the visitors surpass 200 at this venue for the first time. The Renegades finished on 212 for five from 20 overs.
Chasing 213, Brisbane managed 198/8 in 20 overs. Renegades started the campaign with a 14-run win.
