Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid are making surprising decisions in every series. Umesh Yadav, who replaced Mohammad Shami in the squad, played ahead of Deepak Chahar in the first T20I against Australia.
Chahar is considered a T20 specialist bowler but was not given a chance. Umesh, who returned the shortest format set-up, proved very expensive, as he conceded 27 runs and took 2 wickets from his 2 overs.
Deepak is also a part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 reserve list, but still, he was not considered. Former India pacer Ashish Nehra has questioned the confusion in the national team.
“Why is Umesh Yadav playing and not Deepak Chahar? If Deepak was fit to play, why was Umesh preferred over him? Confusion to zaroor hai,” Nehra said in an interaction with Cricbuzz.
