Following his recent retirement from T20Is, Williamson has chosen to dedicate this period to preparing for the World Test Championship fixtures against the West Indies, which begin at Hagley Oval on 2 December.

New Zealand have revealed the squad for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, beginning on 16 November at Hagley Oval. Matt Henry returns after recovering from a calf issue that ruled him out of the final ODIs against England, while seasoned batter Kane Williamson has not been named in the squad.

Kane Williamson has been left out of New Zealand’s ODI squad as the senior batter shifts his attention entirely to red-ball duties. Following his recent retirement from T20Is, Williamson has chosen to dedicate this period to preparing for the World Test Championship fixtures against the West Indies, which begin at Hagley Oval on 2 December.

Matt Henry’s return gives the Black Caps a major lift ahead of their ODI meetings with the West Indies, and Mitchell Santner continues to lead a group eager to carry forward the energy from their successful campaign against England.

The Black Caps camp is still missing several key names, as Mohammad Abbas, Finn Allen, Lockie Ferguson, Adam Milne, Will O’Rourke, Glenn Phillips and Ben Sears are all recovering from injuries. Meanwhile, Blair Tickner keeps his berth in the 14-strong group, rewarded for his solid outings versus England.
