Former India player Yuvraj Singh has criticized the pitch of Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after the third Test of the ongoing series against England finished in just two days.
Following India’s 10-wicket win against Joe Root-led side in the pink-ball Test, Yuvraj took to his official Twitter handle and opined that the Ahmedabad pitch was not ideal for the longest format of the game.
The World Cup-winning player was of the view that if the likes of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh had bowled on such kind of pitches, they would have ended up with 1000 and 800 scalps respectively.
Yuvraj concluded his tweet by congratulating Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ishant Sharma for their outstanding performances in the day-night match.
“Finished in 2 days not sure if that’s good for test cricket! If @anilkumble1074 and @harbhajan_singh bowled on these kinds of wickets they would be sitting on a thousand and 800? However, congratulations India, @akshar2026 what a spell! congratulations @ashwinravi99 @ImIshant,” the former left-handed batsman wrote.
However, Yuvi’s post didn’t go down well with many ardent fans of cricket as the netizens brutally trolled the 39-year-old veteran on social media platforms.
Speaking of the match, Ashwin and Axar starred with the ball to help India win the third Test at the world’s largest cricket stadium.
Having taken a 2-1 lead against England, the hosts will now be looking forward to sealing the four-match series with a perfect win in the next game, starting from March 4.
