Shikhar Dhawan vs NZ

Experienced Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan found himself excluded from the Men in Blue’s 2023 World Cup plans when the Asian Games were about to kick off in Hangzhou. To his surprise, the veteran left-hander discovered that he wasn’t selected for the Asian Games squad either.

Despite the unexpected setback, Dhawan, known for his sportsmanship, responded gracefully to being left out. He acknowledged the selectors’ decision to focus on young talent and accepted the situation with composure.

“When I didn’t see my name in the Asian Games squad, I was shocked. Later, I thought they have a different way of thinking, and you must accept it,” he said.

Dhawan clarified that he hasn’t discussed his future with any selector and highlighted his enjoyment of spending time at the NCA (National Cricket Academy).

“I haven’t talked to any selector regarding my future. I regularly visit the NCA and find joy in my time there. The facilities are excellent. The NCA played a significant role in molding my career, and I am thankful for that,” he added.

Notably, under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, India secured gold in the men’s cricket event at the Asian Games last year.
