Harleen Deol took a stunning catch to dismiss Amy Jones in the first T20I against England. She was widely praised by fans and cricketers. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has joined the list of her admirers. He took to Instagram to laud the effort of the Indian cricketer.
The 23-year old was stationed at long-off when Jones tried to clear the boundary but Deol made the save by jumping and bringing the ball into the playing area. She then jumped back into the playing area to complete one of the best catches in the history of the game.
“Phenomenal! Well done @deol.harleen304,” the PM wrote. England Women scored 177/7 from the allotted 20 overs. While Shikha Pandey took three wickets, Poonam Yadav and Radha Yadav accumulated one each.
Indian women were 54/3 in 8.4 overs when the play was halted. The hosts were ahead of India on the DLS equation and won the game by 18 runs.
