Overview:
With ICC running out of time to convince Pakistan, the next few days will be challenging for everyone involved with the T20 World Cup.
India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has reacted to Pakistan’s boycott of India’s match in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The government of Pakistan has instructed the men’s cricket team to opt out of the contest, scheduled on February 15 in Colombo.
Although the Men in Green have been permitted to compete in other games, restrictions have been put on the most-awaited game of the global tournament. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has urged the PCB to change its stance, considering the importance of the clash.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar revealed that his team will travel to Sri Lanka for the match. “We haven’t said no, they have. Our flight is booked and we are going,” he said.
ICC is likely to punish the PCB if the contest is cancelled. Pakistan will be barred from hosting big tournaments, and the overseas players will not be allowed to compete in the PSL. The World Cup broadcasters are planning to take legal action against the Pakistan Cricket Board in case of losses if the IND vs PAK match doesn’t take place.
The Pakistan PM has confirmed that there is no possibility of changing the decision, putting the ICC in a spot of bother. Pakistan started threatening the apex body of international cricket since Bangladesh’s request to relocate their matches from India to Sri Lanka was declined.
The decision-makers replaced Bangladesh with Scotland, which further escalated the matter. With ICC running out of time to convince Pakistan, the next few days will be challenging for everyone involved with the T20 World Cup.
