England were deemed favourites for the ongoing fifth Test against India. The hosts recently defeated New Zealand by a margin of 3-0 in red-ball matches. On the other hand, India were without any Test match action for a long time.
But the Ben Stokes-led team has struggled with the ball and bat so far as India are in control of match.
England star batter Jonny Bairstow was in sublime form against the Kiwis. He amassed 377 runs in four innings, laced with two centuries and an unbeaten 71.
However, he failed to read Mohammed Shami’s line and length. Taking advantage of the situation, Virat Kohli sledged him using Tim Southee’s name. The incident happened at the end of the 14th over.
Virat said, “Little bit faster than Southee, eh?”
Despite his sensational spell, Shami managed just one wicket. Captain Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers and took 3 wickets as England went five down for 84 at Stumps on Day 2.
