Kolkata Knight Riders’ all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, who played exceptionally well for his franchise in the second leg of the Indian Premier League in the UAE, made his India debut in the first T20I match against New Zealand on Wednesday, November 17. Rohit Sharma who is India’s new captain in T20Is handed over the debut cap to Iyer.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of the same. The board also wrote a caption to wish the all-rounder on his big day. The all-rounder was rewarded for his consistency in the second leg of the league.

“The grin says it all! A moment to cherish for @ivenkyiyer2512 as he makes his #TeamIndia debut,” the caption of the video read.
