India fast bowler Umran Malik was on fire on Day 1 of the Irani Trophy between the Rest of India and Saurashtra. Umran picked three wickets, including one in his first over of the contest. He got rid of Arpit Vasavada on 22.

He also dismissed Jaydev Unadkat (12) and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja (26), recording figures of 3/25 in 5.5 overs. The Rest of India bowled out Saurashtra on 98. In the 10th over of the innings, Umran clean bowled Vasavada with a ball that came sharply into the left-hander.

Umran then took the wicket of Unadkat on a yorker in the 16th over of the game.

Sarfaraz’s unbeaten 125 off 126 balls at stumps took the Rest of India to 205 for 3. He shared an unbeaten partnership of 185 runs with Hanuma Vihari (62 batting off 145 balls).
