Swashbuckling India opener Shikhar Dhawan is currently gearing up for the upcoming limited-overs series against the Lankans, starting from July 13 in Colombo. The 35-year-old has been named the captain of the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour, comprising 3 ODIs and as many T20 Internationals.
Dhawan recently took to his official Instagram handle and shared a series of pictures and clips in which he can be seen sweating hard at the gym.
Captioning the post, Shikhar wrote, “Stronger everyday, Training under @smartstrengthindia’s watchful eye.”
Here’s see Shikhar Dhawan’s latest Instagram post:
While the senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named as Dhawan’s deputy for the forthcoming series, as many as six uncapped players have been included in the 20-member squad.
Indian team is set to depart for Colombo on June 28 after completing a 14-day mandatory quarantine period in Mumbai, which will start from June 14.
Notably, Dhawan was last seen in action during the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) before the tournament was postponed due to multiple COVID-19 cases inside the bio-secure bubble.
He was one of the best performers for the Rishabh Pant-led side in the first half of IPL 2021 as he smashed 380 runs in 8 games at a brilliant average of 54.28 and a strike rate of 134.27.
